Since we're into the "love" month, I decided to write about my
"super spouse", Fred.Fred is a great conversationalist and can even talk easily about emotions, something most males are not good at, so I'm told.
Fred is a talented wood worker and has been building this sailboat for about three years. This spring he plans to put it in the water. It's very close to being ready to launch.Fred was born a "romantic". I was born "practical". We temper each other's tendencies. This has been a plus in our 41-year marriage, not a catalyst for conflict, probably because even though he's romantic, he is also very careful with money.
Fred is usually in good humor, works hard at whatever he's doing, yet has the ability to kick back and take advantage of the fact he's retired. The Lord blessed me with a super spouse when He guided me into Fred's path one year when I was far from home for my summer job. Who'd have known our summer romance would become the romance of a lifetime!

What a blessing to have a Fred. My husband is a practical. Sometimes I miss having something romantic done. This year he surprised me for Christmas and did something romantic. A trip away for him and I. :)
ReplyDeleteHey, Ginger, sounds like your man has tempered his practicality with a touch of the romantic. Fred is not much of a traveler, or wasn't until we got a used motor home in 2010. Now we spend our winter months planning and looking forward to the trips for "travel season".

Donna

Hi Diana,
DeleteThanks for stopping by. I got the camera out to snap pictures for this post yesterday and after Fred declined to pose for a shot, I caught him napping. I let him know ahead of time that I wanted to post the photo and he didn't object, but got a laugh over it.
Blessings,
Donna
Hi Donna! Sounds like life if good for you both. We've also been married almost 41 years, and it was a high school romance. Traveling in the motor home sounds fun and there are plenty of beautiful places to see in the U.P. I love visiting there.
ReplyDeleteHi Lucy,
DeleteThanks for stopping by! We've really enjoyed life in the U.P. with lots of natural beauty and very little traffic. It's a trade-off. We're not close to stores or medical facilities, and our house gets no cell signal. Thankfully we're not "shoppers", we're in good health, and our land line works.
Have a great year!
Blessings,
Donna
What a beautiful tribute toy our husband, Donna!
ReplyDeleteNot just happening tempering, I am certain you both made a big effort to be able to live together. Compared to the highlighted opposite, so good to hear stories like yours.
Retha,
DeleteThanks for stopping by! I have been so very blessed with Fred as my husband. He says he is blessed to have me as his wife. Yes, some days are not so "happy" but they are very few in our relationship because we both value peace and tranquility in our home. Besides, if we raise our voices or feel upset, we disturb the peace of our other family members, our two dogs, who always know if the emotions are balanced or off.
Blessings,
Donna
